If Lead Docket has been set up for Vinesign, and you are sending your documents from within Lead Docket, templates can be made more easily customizable with the inclusion of merge codes. Merge codes can be added in two ways.
Lead Docket merge codes can be added into a Vinesign template. When the template is sent from within Lead Docket, the merge codes will fill automatically with the information from that lead. This can be used to automatically fill information like client names and contact information, so the client doesn’t have to.
Special merge codes can be added to a document in Lead Docket. When the document is sent to Vinesign, these merge codes will automatically generate Vinesign fields, like the signature field, in the Vinesign template.
Set Up Lead Docket Merge Codes
To set up these templates, begin in Lead Docket. Go to Manage > Document Templates in the left side menu, and then click on the Field Map button.
You will see the list of merge codes in Lead Docket. Find the merge code you would like to add to the template and copy it, including the brackets.
Note: Client merge codes, such as {{ClientFullName}}, will fill automatically with the primary lead contact’s information. To pull information from the Vinesign document recipient, use recipient merge codes, such as {{RecipientFullName}}. To pull information from the first related contact that was added to a lead, use merge codes prefixed with "PrimaryRelatedContact," such as {{PrimaryRelatedContactFullName}}.
Open and sign in to Vinesign. In the Templates section, create or edit a template. Learn more about using Vinesign.
In the Design page, click + Text Field in the Signer panel to create a custom field.
In the Field Properties panel on the right, paste the merge code into the Merge Code field. Save the template.
Repeat this process for any other merge codes you would like to insert in the template.
Once you’ve added all desired merge codes into the template, don’t forget to save the template. Since this template can only be used when sent from Lead Docket, it is suggested that you indicate this somewhere in the template’s name to differentiate from those templates which do not include merge codes. For example, you might have “Lead Docket Welcome Letter” and “Welcome Letter.”
Set Up Vinesign Merge Codes
When special Vinesign merge codes are included in a document and sent to Vinesign, they will automatically create fields in the Vinesign template. For example, if a document with a signature merge code is sent to Vinesign, a signature field will be created in the Vinesign template. Learn more about templates and fields in Vinesign.
These merge codes use straight brackets instead of the curly brackets used for other types of merge codes. Within the brackets, they include of “signer number” followed by “field type,” separated by underscores, as in the following picture:
Part | Examples | What it Does |
---|---|---|
straight brackets | [[ ]] | Each merge code must be surrounded by two sets of straight brackets. |
signer number | Signer1, Signer2… | Each merge code begins with a signer number. The signer number maps the field to a signer in Vinesign. Read more about managing signers. |
field type | Signature, Initials, Custom_Text, Custom_Check, Date | The signer number is followed by the type of Vinesign field. There are five field types: signature, initials, textbox, checkbox, and date. |
placement | T:10, T:-20, L:15, L:-10 | Optionally, you can add a placement indicator to the merge code. “T:10” would move the field 10 pixels down from the top. “L:10” would move the field 10 pixels to the left. Placement can use positive or negative numbers. |
Sending
Once you’ve saved your template with all desired merge codes, just send the template from within Lead Docket as normal to have the fields fill out automatically.
