Lead Viability uses LOIS to review an incoming lead against case-type-specific criteria. LOIS reads the intake answers, documents, phone transcripts, and case details on the lead, and returns a result—Qualified, Needs Review, or Rejected—along with supporting facts.
Instead of re-reading an entire intake packet to decide whether a lead is worth pursuing, your team can open the lead and see what LOIS found, and why, in one place.
Set Up Lead Viability
Before Lead Viability can run on a lead, an Admin must map your organization’s case types to the built-in system case types. This action matches your case type to the right AI prompt and set of viability factors. If desired, the Admin can also customize the system case type.
To map case types to system case type prompts:
- Go to Manage > Case Intelligence. Under Lead Viability Configuration, you’ll see every case type your firm uses, along with the System Case Type it’s currently mapped to. Anything not yet set up shows as Unmapped.
- Click a case type to open it and make the selection.
-
Choose an option in the System Case Type dropdown to view the visibility indicators and their weights for that type. The 23 built-in system case types include Personal Injury (PI), Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA), Mass Tort Law, Bankruptcy, Worker’s Compensation, and others covering most practice areas.
- Determine the best system case type match. If desired, you can choose to customize the system case type’s viability indicators and guidance prompt—learn more in the subsequent section. If you are satisfied with the system case type as-is, select Save to match your case type to the system case type.
Once a case type is mapped, Lead Viability automatically runs on new leads and updates on existing leads of that type.
Customizing Case Type Viability
If you’d like, you can alter a built-in system case type’s viability indicators and viability guidance.
Heads Up!
Once you edit a system case type, you will not receive any updates Lead Docket makes to that case type.
Add or edit viability indicators: to add a new indicator, click Add next to either the positive or the negative viability indicator list; to edit an existing indicator, click on it.
In the right side flyout, enter or adjust the indicator description, or change the weight that LOIS will give to that indicator. For negative indicators, you can also choose whether this indicator would disqualify the lead completely, regardless of other indicators.
For existing indicators, you can also click to Delete Indicator.
Lead Viability on a Lead
Open a lead. In the Incident tab, if the lead’s case type is mapped, is a Lead Viability panel.
Tip
While LOIS is still working through a newly received lead, the panel shows a loading state until analysis finishes. To see Lead Viability on an existing lead, you must update the lead for LOIS to begin review.
Lead Viability provides one of three results:
- Qualified: the lead meets your firm’s criteria for that case type.
- Needs Review: LOIS couldn’t confirm one or more specific facts it needed. The panel lists exactly what’s still outstanding, so you know what to verify before deciding.
- Rejected: LOIS found at least one disqualifying issue with the lead.
Beside the result, the Lead Viability panel shows the top five viability indicators, based on heaviest weighted items for determination. Each indicator is marked with a green checkmark or a red x and a short explanation.
Lead Viability Example
In the image below, four of the five scoring details are checked off. The collision, the injuries, the at-fault party's insurance, and the police report are all documented and consistent with each other. But one item is flagged: a demand letter from another firm, which suggests the lead may already be represented. That single flag is enough to move the whole lead to Rejected, even though most of the individual facts line up.
Scoring details work this way throughout Lead Viability: a disqualifying fact can outweigh several qualifying ones, the same way it would if a person were reviewing the file by hand.
Lead Result Tag
LOIS’ result (Accept, Review Need, or Rejected) also appears as a tag at the top of the lead and next to it where it’s listed in the Intake Dashboard.
