Domain authentication shows email providers that Lead Docket has your permission to send emails on your behalf, meaning that recipients will not see the “via leaddocket.com” message on your emails.
Even though this is a small change from your recipients' perspective, this change has a huge positive impact on your reputation as a sender and your email deliverability. Email service providers distrust messages that don't have domain authentication set up because they cannot be sure that the message comes from you.
These records allow email service providers to recognize and trust that emails sent through Lead Docket are legitimately authorized by your domain, helping to improve delivery and reduce the chance messages are marked as spam. You are also explicitly showing your recipients that this email comes from you, so they are less likely to mark your mail as spam.
To give Lead Docket permission, you’ll point DNS entries from your DNS provider (like GoDaddy, Rackspace, or Cloudflare) to Lead Docket.
To enable this on your domain, you will need to add 6 CNAME records to your DNS as follows. (Note that you should replace [yourdomain] with your domain name.)
| Host | Value |
|---|---|
| messages.[yourdomain] | u56141842.wl093.sendgrid.net |
| msg._domainkey.[yourdomain] | msg.domainkey.u56141842.wl093.sendgrid.net |
| msg2._domainkey.[yourdomain] | msg2.domainkey.u56141842.wl093.sendgrid.net |
| info.[yourdomain] | u56141849.wl100.sendgrid.net |
| inf._domainkey.[yourdomain] | inf.domainkey.u56141849.wl100.sendgrid.net |
| inf2._domainkey.[yourdomain] | inf2.domainkey.u56141849.wl100.sendgrid.net |
Note
DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate globally.
Once you’ve confirmed the updates are live, you can complete verification in Lead Docket by clicking Manage (in the left hand menu) > Settings > Email. Click Configure Email Validation, select the Domain Authentication option, and click Verify at the bottom of the page. Ensure that everything is functioning as expected.
