Each account sending SMS messages through Lead Docket must register their use case. Businesses that do not register will be subject to increased message filtering, which could affect message deliverability.
Regulations
All major phone carriers enforce regulations for messages that are sent from an application to personal cell phones using 10-digit numbers (A2P 10DLC). These regulations are designed to make it easier for businesses to connect with their customers while countering spam over SMS and MMS.
As part of these regulations, businesses must be registered in order to send SMS messages through Lead Docket. If a business does not register, their ability to send SMS messages through Lead Docket will be compromised. Messages could be marked as spam or not be delivered at all.
Overview of Steps
If you have not yet registered, you’ll see a registration callout at the top of your dashboard.
Select Start Registration, and you’ll be taken to the phone registration forms. Here, you’ll fill out business profile information, SMS registration, and (optionally) outbound calling registration.
Once the registration is successfully completed, you can add phone numbers and use SMS in connected systems—Lead Docket and Filevine.
Business Profile
In the Business Profile section, you’ll fill out your business information and point of contact information. Follow instructions to fill out the form.
Tips
Under Website URL, ensure you enter a link directly to your “Contact Us” form, rather than to your website’s homepage.
In the Authorized Representative section, enter the information for the person authorized to represent your registration. The email entered here will receive updates as the registration progresses.
When you’ve filled out all fields, click Submit. The authorized representative will receive an email that the business information has been submitted, and your Lead Docket dashboard will now show your registration as In Review.
SMS Registration
Next, fill out the SMS Registration.
1. Consent Message
The consent message is the exact script used to obtain permission. The consent message must:
- identify your firm name
- include the phrase "Message & data rates may apply."
- include an opt-in message with a checkbox, which must be unchecked by default. Carriers consider pre-checked boxes to be “forced consent,” which is one major cause for registration rejection.
Click to copy the displayed message to use on your site, or adjust it to something similar. (Consult with your legal team to ensure it's correct). Slight adjustments can be made, but this information must be present for registration to succeed. Be sure to adjust your firm name and add valid links to your privacy policy and terms of service.
2. Privacy Policy
A link directly to your privacy policy is required on your website. A compliant privacy policy must state that no mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted.

3. Terms of Service
A link directly to your privacy policy is required on your website. To ensure registration success, your terms of service must include the specific phrases "Message and data rates may apply" and "Message frequency varies."
Click to copy the displayed message to use on your dedicated Terms of Service page and include a link to this page in the footer of your website. While slight adjustments are permitted, this specific language must be present for your registration to be approved. Be sure to adjust the support email address and phone number to match your company and add a valid link to your privacy policy.
4. SMS Registration
Select your best estimate of the number of message segments you will be sending per day:
- low volume: roughly 4000 message segments per day, depending on phone carrier
- standard: roughly 20,000 message segments per day, depending on phone carrier
If you exceed the number of message segments, you may begin experiencing delivery failures.
5. Website Changes
Provide the full, public (https://) links to your website’s “Contact Us” form, your privacy policy, and your terms of service. Ensure that these links are public, not behind a password/firewall, and is easily found on your website.
Each of these must be provided as a distinct link. Combined links or single documents containing both policies may result in registration rejection.
